  • KOHIMA — A futsal arena at the Yhoshü Resource Centre (YRC) above the Pony Farm under Kigwema village was officially opened on Monday.

  • The newly-constructed 66x106 feet arena was inaugurated by senior vice president and whole time director at Jhajjar Power Limited (JPL), Apraava Energy’s wholly-owned subsidiary in Haryana, Bhaskar Bhattacharjee.

  • The Yhoshü Resource Centre, Kigwema, is one of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives of Apraava Energy, India's leading corporation in the energy sector.

  • Speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharjee expressed his delight to be engaging with the local community in Nagaland. He explained that Apraava Energy has a broad vision of giving back to the society by engaging with communities on a long-term basis.

  • He lauded the Yhoshü clan of Kigwema for rising to the occasion and taking up a project with a focus on empowering the youth.

  • Visato Yhoshü, YRC committee convenor, said the community had for many years relied on the goodwill of small government schemes and the limited resources of local leaders to meet some of their common needs.

  • "We have done what we could with what little we had, but we have also long-felt a growing desire for something that would not just respond to our present, but build a foundation for our future. Something that could help us become self-reliant, enterprising, and united as a community," he explained.

  • He maintained that the YRC project is a bold step in that direction as it is envisioned to serve as a place for learning, livelihood, sports, community gathering and growth.

  • He said the remarkable transformation is being made possible through the generous and visionary support of Apraava Energy and the efforts of Tuensang-based Eleutheros Christian Society founder Rev. Dr. Chingmak Chang in bridging the gap by backing the project.

  • "It is the spirit of community, collaboration, and generosity that has made our vision a reality," Yhoshü added.

  • Jhajjar Power Ltd. general manager (HR & Admin) Rajeev Rao and CSR senior manager Binita also shared their views on the YRC as well as the objectives of Apraava Energy's CSR initiatives, which focus mainly on empowerment of communities, youth and women.

  • In his brief remark, Rev. Dr. Chingmak Chang said there is a high number of educational institutions (both schools and colleges) in the area that cater to not only the people from nearby villages, but to a huge number of students from different parts of Nagaland including the eastern districts. Towards this, he encouraged the YRC project team to give their best so that the facility may serve all youth in the region.

  • The dedicatory prayer for the newly-constructed futsal ground was pronounced by Kigwema Baptist Church Pastor, Rev. Mekhale while the project report was delivered by YRC project team member Khietole Yhoshü. Chairman of Yhoshü clan, Yathosie Yhoshü, also shared words of gratitude during the programme.

  • Following the inaugural programme, an exhibition match was played by youth from Kigwema.
