Kohima, May 1 (EMN): The department of Health and Family Welfare has informed that the BSL-3 lab at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima (now Covid-19 hospital) is nearing completion as it has “reached very advanced stage” and the state can have a functional lab within a few days.
Kesonyu Yhome, secretary of Health and Family Welfare, while briefing the media at Secretariat conference hall on Friday, informed that the order given by the court was appreciated but the activities on the BSL-3 lab had started before the judgment and the government would have to function within the target it has set for itself.
He informed that the entire state machineries are working towards ensuring that the lab is completed at the earliest. “Starting from the governor to the labour force, the whole state machinery is working on this. So we can assure you that it will be ready soon, but it is not very prudent to give date,” he said.
Yhome stated: “With all due respect to the honourable court, these are very specialised activities and whether it is the court or any agency, it may not be the correct authority to give a deadline because the government has been in full swing, as far as setting up of the BSL is concerned, to ensure that this is completed at the earliest possible time.”
