DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang on Saturday lauded the collective efforts of government officials, frontline workers, and community leaders for their roles in implementing people-centric governance during the State-Level Sampoornata Abhiyan Samman Samaroh.

A press release issued by the deputy CM’s office informed that the state-level event was held at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima.

Addressing the gathering, Zeliang said the Sampoornata Abhiyan embodies the spirit of inclusive development by ensuring that government initiatives reach every household and village.

“We are gathered here not just to distribute awards but to celebrate a powerful idea that governance must touch every life, and development must reach every village,” he stated.

Zeliang extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programmes, and to NITI Aayog for being the driving force behind them. He said that the word ‘Sampoornata’, meaning completeness, represents the goal of 100% saturation in developmental indicators.

He noted that the success of the Abhiyan was a result of teamwork—between departments, officers, and communities—and commended the dedication of officers who worked under challenging conditions.

Citing notable achievements, Zeliang highlighted that blocks such as Thonoknyu, Khongsa, and Akhuhaito had achieved complete saturation in several indicators under the Aspirational Blocks Programme, which began just last year.

He stressed the interconnectedness of development sectors, noting that improvements in health, education, and agriculture go hand in hand to uplift communities.

The deputy CM underscored the importance of convergence and local governance in addressing larger challenges such as unemployment, rural distress, and digital exclusion. “Strong local governance and community involvement are key to sustainable solutions,” he said, adding that real-time ground-level data is critical for identifying and addressing last-mile delivery gaps.

Zeliang lauded the frontline workers, calling them the ‘unsung heroes’ of the campaign. “ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, nurses, teachers—they are the ones walking house to house, ensuring services reach the people,” he said.

Looking ahead, he called for focus on areas such as child nutrition, clean water, digital inclusion, and women’s entrepreneurship.

He urged all departments—including Health, Education, Rural Development, Social Welfare, and Agriculture—to maintain a culture of collaboration and convergence.

Pledging continued government support, he assured that Nagaland would play an active role in the country’s journey toward a developed India. “We may be small, but our commitment and innovation can set an example for the rest of the country,” Zeliang added.

Congratulating the awardees, he said their dedication is building a stronger, more compassionate Nagaland. “Let every village, child, woman, and elderly person feel the presence and promise of the government,” he said.
