Frolic Cup semi-final lineup confirmed

  • DIMAPUR — In the ongoing Frolic Cup at Medziphema local ground, four quarter-final matches were played on Wednesday, with Khaibung Youth & Students Union, Medziphema FC, United Falcon Club, and Medziphema Village Youth Organisation booking their places in the semi-finals.

  • According to an update, in the first quarter-final, Arap of Khaibung Youth & Students Union (KYSU) scored a hat-trick, booking his side a semi-final place.

  • Playing against Lomgol FC, the first half was mostly dominated by KYSU, with their midfield controlling the game. Arap fired in the 28th minute, giving KYSU the lead. The second half witnessed a determined Lomgol fighting back, but Arap's second strike in the 50th minute set them back.

  • Haochon scored for Lomgol FC in the 65th minute, but it was a little too late, as Arap again fired in the 70th minute, sealing the game with a final score of 3-1 in favour of KYSU.

  • In the second quarter-final between Nissi FC and Medziphema FC, Medziphema FC had the upper hand, as their team combination and fine attacking set proved destructive.

  • Kakhevi opened the Medziphema FC account in the 12th minute, followed closely by Kanumdi in the 19th minute with a fine touch. Toka was also not willing to be left out, as he joined the party in the 32nd minute.

  • Nissi had some openings but failed to materialise. Paotinsat scored for Nissi in the 44th minute. The game was sealed when Kanumdi again tapped the ball into the net in the 63rd minute. The final score was 4-1 in favour of Medziphema FC.

  • United Falcon Club (UFC) secured their place in the semi-finals by defeating Maova Youth & Students Union (MYSU). UFC took the game to the opponent early, and Vimegolie Kire scored in the 5th minute. The second goal for UFC came from the boot of Keneingulie Kuotsu in the 25th minute.

  • The defenders had their work cut out as MYSU continued to pressure the UFC goal without any success. The team combination and teamwork were the difference in the match. The final score was 2-0 in favour of United Falcon Club.

  • The fourth quarter-final saw Medziphema Village Youth Organisation (MVYO) defeat Libra FC and move into the semi-finals.

  • Neisede of MVYO scored the fastest and most impressive goal of the tournament as he went past the defenders, kept his composure, and chipped the ball into the far corner of the goalpost.

  • Despite the setback early on, Libra continued their fight and equalised in the 22nd minute through Alumei. Thejasetuo Gwirie restored MVYO's lead with a shot beyond the keeper in the 26th minute. The MVYO defenders were able to protect the fragile lead. The final score was 2-1 in favour of MVYO.
