Frolic Cup: Medziphema, United Falcon secure wins

  • DIMAPUR — In the ongoing 9th Frolic Cup at the local ground in Medziphema, Lomgol FC advanced to the next round after defeating Zohan FC 3-0 in the morning match on Tuesday.

  • According to an update, the match was mostly one-sided, with Zohan found wanting on different fronts.

  • The first goal for Lomgol FC came early in the 6th minute through Ngulminthang. The early goal was a setback, as Zohan failed to recover from conceding so early. The lead was further cemented when Ngulminthang scored again in the 20th minute. Before the end of the first half, Jangmang sealed the match with another goal in the 31st minute.

  • The second half witnessed some excellent play but no goals, with the final score being 3-0 in favour of Lomgol FC.

  • The afternoon saw Medziphema FC take on SFS Academy. The match turned into a goal fest, with Medziphema scoring 9 goals against SFS's 2.

  • The goal scorers for Medziphema FC were Kanumdi (3rd, 22nd, 24th, and 43rd minutes), Manton (4th and 55th minutes), Toka (4th minute), Wati (19th minute), and Kekhrie (71st minute). Chongminngam (32nd minute) and Shong (38th minute) were the goal scorers for SFS Academy.

  • Dream Team Tsiepama took on United Falcon Club in the evening match. The match was equally poised, with the defenders of both sides having their work cut out. The second half saw United Falcon open their scoring with a long-range shot from Vimegolie Kire in the 42nd minute. This was enough to secure their place in the quarter-finals.

  • The final score was 1-0 in favour of United Falcon.
