Dimapur, Feb. 23 (EMN): A monolith to commemorate friendship between the Tholo clan of Jotsoma village and Merhü clan of Khonoma village was inaugurated by MLA of 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency, Keneizhakho Nakhro, at Tholoma Tsiepfhe in Jotsoma village on February 23.
Tholo clan of Jotsoma village consists of Nakhro, Nagi and Peseyie, while the Merhü clan of Khonoma village consists of Lievüse, Gwizan and Meyase, a DIPR report stated.
Speaking at the programme, Nakhro, while recounting the history between the two clans, stated that there was hostility between the two clans. He, however, stated that with the changed situation and necessity, friendly relations developed between the two clans. He added that there is a need for more co-operation and stronger bonds for progress and prosperity.
Sievi Iralu, an elder from the Merhü clan, shared about the history between the two clans and called upon the younger generation to further build and strengthen the relationship.
Rügolie Nakhro, speaking during the function, stated that the friendship between the two clans should serve as an example that it is possible to attain peace and reconciliation despite a hostile past. Megorzo Chase expressed hope that the friendship monolith would further cement and foster stronger ties between the two clans for generations to come.
