DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government of freezing the bank accounts of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Indian Youth Congress (IYC) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), terming it as “unwarranted move”.
In a press release issued on Friday, the NPCC said that “such an undemocratic action by the BJP is only killing the values of democracy in an effort to keep itself supreme over all the political parties in the country”.
With the biggest festival of democracy — the Lok Sabha election — at hand, freezing the bank accounts of the Congress is a move to paralyse the functioning of the Party in all aspects, especially to fight the elections, it said.
“It also exposes the fear of the BJP and its allies to win the elections in a free and fair process,” the NPCC asserted, demanding immediate release of the bank accounts of the Congress Party so that the democratic values are upheld in the true spirit.
