Free vaccination, animal health awareness camp held in Peren
DIMAPUR — The College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University (CAU) , Jalukie, conducted a free vaccination-cum-animal health camp and awareness programme at council hall, Lilen village, Peren, on March 16.
According to a press release, it was conducted under the guidance of Dr. I Shakuntala, the dean of the college, and funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Research Centre on Equines, Hisar, Haryana. As part of the programme, a farmer-scientist interaction was also held.
During the technical session, Dr. Gunjan Das, professor and head, and Dr. Bhumapati Devi, assistant professor, delivered lectures on the topics ‘Important diseases of cattle and their management’ and ‘Management of important postpartum diseases of pigs,’ respectively.
In addition to consultation services, free anti-rabies vaccinations, mineral mixtures, deworming drugs, antibiotics, and other veterinary medicines were distributed to the farmers, covering a total of 540 livestock, including poultry.
A total of 57 participants attended the programme, comprising 41 farmers and 16 officials.
