Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): On the initiative of the state governor, PB Acharya, a free health screening camp is being organised at District Hospital in Dimapur and Naga Hospital in Kohima. The free health screening camp would be conducted for children from 0 to 18 years
An update from the DIPR informed that the camp is being organised in collaboration with the Naga Chetana Project, which is co-sponsored by Indian Medical Association and Chetana Trust of Mangaluru, Karnataka, for screening of children from 0-18 years aimed at early detection and management of the 4 Ds—defects at birth, diseases, deficiencies, and development delay, including disabilities prevalent in children.
It stated that children diagnosed with illnesses would be provided free follow up check-up including surgeries at tertiary level as per RSBK model costing under NUM.
The visiting team of doctors comprising of various specialities would include Dr. UV Shenoy, MD, PhD (child developmental interventionist); Dr. Satish Rao, MD (psychiatrist); Dr. KR Kamath, D Ortho, DNB (orthopedician); Dr. Sabita, MBBS, DGO (gynaecologist); Dr. Asha Hegde, MD (pediatrician); Dr. Amitesh Narayan, MPT, PhD (physiotherapist); Dr. Padma Baliga, MSc, PhD (child educationist); and Anil Ramanujam, ophthalmic specialist, would be available during the camp, the report stated.
The free health screening camp would be held District Hospital Dimapur from January 21 to 23 from 9:30 am onwards, while the same programme at Naga Hospital Kohima would be conducted on January 24 and 25 from 9:30am onwards.
All parents and children are requested to avail the services for screening.
