Free animal health camp conducted at Saijang village

Doctors, support staff, and pet owners after the free vaccination-cum-animal health camp at Saijang village, Peren, on Saturday.

DIMAPUR — The College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Jalukie, organised a free vaccination-cum-animal health camp along with an awareness programme at the council hall, Saijang village, Peren, on Saturday.

According to an update, it was conducted under the supervision of Dr. I Shakuntala, dean of the college, and was funded by the ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines, Hisar, Haryana.

The programme included a farmer-scientist interaction, which was followed by the free vaccination and animal health camp.

Dr. Gunjan Das, professor and head of the college, Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, assistant professor; and Dr. Sashitola Ozukum, assistant professor, delivered lectures on the topics “Important diseases of cattle and their management,” “Management of important postpartum diseases of pigs,” and “Important diseases of poultry and their management” during the technical session.

A total of 56 participants attended the programme, including 43 farmers and 13 officials.

In addition to consultation services, mineral mixtures, deworming drugs, antibiotics, and other veterinary medicines were distributed to the farmers. These covered a total of 196 livestock, including poultry, and 43 dogs were vaccinated during the event.
