Dimapur, March 14 (EMN): A citizen of Dimapur was duped of INR 2 lakh via a fake Indigo Airlines appointment letter and a ticket of the same airline.
According to the Director of Dimapur Airport, Mughavi Zhimo, on March 14 a girl along with her parents came to travel by a non-existent Indigo flight from Dimapur to Guwahati. She was carrying an appointment letter with a logo and a forged signature of Indigo Airlines (Airport Authority of India).
Zhimo said that one of the officials informed the girl that there was no such recruitment going on at Indigo Airlines and was asked to report it to the police.
He said that this was the first case of fraudulence as far as Indigo Airlines, Dimapur airport is concerned, but there are many cases in other states and people must not be carried away by such kind of fraudulent appointments.
He informed that if there were any recruitment drives, it would be posted in the official website of the airline, and advertised in newspapers. "Without any examination how can a person get an appointment letter?" he queried.
Zhimo informed that when people fall into the trap, the first thing they lose is money and secondly, the name of the organisation is tarnished. The director added that as soon as he got the information, he requested the commissioner of police to look into the matter.
While speaking to the public relation officer (PRO) of Dimapur police, Relo T Aye, informed that in its preliminary enquiry, it was reported that the victim had received a call regarding the job appointment as an independent full-time executive chairperson of Indigo Airlines (Authority of India) two or three months ago.
Aye informed that the victim was asked to deposit INR 2 lakh first for the job that was promised by the fraudster as well as an Indigo flight from Dimapur to Guwahati.
The PRO informed that the police department has registered a suo-motu case.
