DIMAPUR — The Francis Kikon-led GPRN/NNC (AB) has condemned the actions and alleged misrepresentations of SS Pongkhu, declaring that he holds no legitimate role within the organisation.

In a press statement on Saturday, the group said that it is “deeply concerning” that the name and authority of the GPRN/NNC (AB) are being misused for personal gain, selfish interests, and misleading propaganda.

It said that such acts not only tarnish the credibility of the organisation but also endanger the unity of the Naga political movement.

Claiming that Pongkhu has engaged in repeated violations of protocol, including the unilateral appointment of a so-called “general secretary”, Vikashe Yepthomi, without consultation or the approval of the Tatar (Council). This move, the statement said, represents a blatant disregard for organisational norms, undermining the collective leadership structure of the party.

“Such unilateral decisions, taken outside the constitutional framework, reveal a lack of accountability and respect for the established processes that safeguard internal democracy within the movement,” it read.

Beyond procedural violations, it was alleged that Pongkhu’s leadership has also been marred by allegations of corruption, misconduct, and arbitrary actions.

The group also issued clarification regarding recent claims made by Pongkhu and his associates. It maintained that contrary to the propaganda circulated under his name, Yepthomi has not been officially appointed by the GPRN/NNC (AB) in any capacity.

It said that any assertions suggesting otherwise are false, misleading, and constitute an attempt to deceive the Naga people. It was stressed that only appointments ratified by the Tatar carry legitimacy, and no individual has the authority to bypass this process.

Reaffirming its commitment to the founding principles of the Naga struggle, the GPRN/NNC (AB) reminded the people that the Naga national movement was built upon the sacrifices of countless men and women who laid down their lives for truth and freedom.

“These sacrifices must be respected and honoured, not manipulated for personal ambition,” the statement said, urging citizens to remain vigilant against individuals who misuse the national cause for their own benefit.

It cautioned the public against being misled by divisive propaganda and reaffirmed that Pongkhu does not represent the legitimate government body.

It was mentioned that three individuals associated with this controversy — Athrong Yemchunger, Niuto Ayemi, and Vikashe Yepthomi — are theology graduates and stated that as theology graduates, they were called to be messengers of God’s word, to help build a just and better society, and to serve as moral examples for the community.

GPRN/NNC (AB) informed the public that, effective immediately, Pongkhu shall no longer act or represent himself as the president of the GPRN/NNC (AB). From this day onwards, any contribution, cooperation, or engagement made under his name will not be recognised by the government.

It went on to say that GPRN/NNC (AB) shall not be held responsible for any action, agreement, or commitment undertaken by him henceforth.
