Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): The village councils of Old Jalukie, Jalukiekam, Beisumpui and Beisumpuikam villages on Sunday refuted the statement made by Senior Citizens’ Association Nagaland (SCAN) that the NSCN (IM) Hebron camp was within the jurisdiction of Ntangki National Park, and ‘some arrangements’ were being made to rehabilitate the NSCN(IM) cadres inside the park post Naga solution.
The village councils clarified that the NSCN (IM) Hebron camp is not within Ntangki National Park, the land for which was donated by Beisumpui village, while the camp is within the jurisdiction of the Old Jalukie village, the original landowner.
“The boundary between Jalukie and Beisumpui is clearly marked by the Mungleu River so there is no room for confusion and misunderstanding. Naga people should know who the then chief minister of the state was when Hebron camp was established at Forest Colony, in late 1990s, which is outside the jurisdiction of Ntangki NP,” it read.
The resettlement was done outside the jurisdiction of the national park in the then Forest Colony of the Forest department and this fact was also validated by the director of Ntangki National Park, T Aochuba, the statement said.
It stated that one of the Ntangki National Park protection force camps is within the jurisdiction of Beisumpuikam village and the rest inside the national park.
Furthermore, it said that there was an agreement and condition that in the event of NSCN leaving the Hebron camp, the land would be repossessed by Jalukiekam and Jalukie villages, the original landowners.
“Therefore, claiming that Hebron Camp is within Ntangki National Park is either ignorantly misinterpreted or intentionally claimed, so as to deprive the Jalukiekam village to take back possession of the land in which Hebron camp is currently set up,” it stated.
It added that Beisumpui Village Council and Old Jalukie Village Council may be approached for further clarification.
