Dimapur, June 25 (EMN): The Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) said it was found out during its educational tour on June 24 and the 25th that four school buildings namely Government Middle School (GMS) Ngozubo, GMS Viyilho, GMS Shevishe and GMS Kelto, under SDEO Aghunato have been left unattended for many years.

The abandoned school buildings were reportedly sanctioned under the erstwhile Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) between 2010-2013 and projects were implemented by the District Mission Authority, Zunheboto, stated a press release from ESSU president.

Stating that this time-bound projects are meant to be completed within stipulated time, the ESSU asked why those school building projects were not completed and left attended for years together.

Expressing shock at the lackadaisical attitude of the implementing agency of the projects, the union said that it is nothing but to sabotage education of students.

The ESSU urged the concerned authority to look into the matter with all seriousness and take immediate measures in finding out the cause for the delay in completion of the projects and to ensure that it is completed at the earliest. The ESSU asserted that it shall not remain a silent spectator but will take any step deemed fit, so that the school buildings are completed as sanctioned.
