Dimapur, November 16
Amidst great suspense and with emotions running high after a round of ‘pressure task’, the fifth round, four contestants have been eliminated from the cooking competition Naga Chef. The top four competitors who have made it to the final round are Imnanungsang Lkr, Aketoli Zhimomi, James Chemben Ngullie and Gilbert Humtsoe.
The grand finale of the Naga Chef will be held in Hotel Vivor on November 23.
The fifth round of the Naga Chef was held in Hotel Legacy of Kohima. The 8 semifinalists of the round, called the “pressure task round”, were given a mystery basket each, with ingredients ranging from chicken, beef, smoked pork, perilla, fish and varieties of indigenous herbs and spices.
The contestants began their cooking with a lot of enthusiasm once they saw what ingredients they had been allotted to work with. There was an ambience of nervous energy as they set out to the task of creating on the spot recipes from the ingredients in their mystery baskets.
The Judges for the day were Sentila T Yanger, Joel Basumatari, and Shangreiwon Multhou. There were mixed reviews from the judges as they tasted each of the dishes, creating an air of tension for the contestants. The authenticity of the dishes was the defining factor at the end of the day.
The Naga Chef, in its first season, was conceptualized and organized by Synergy Group Enterprise and supported by the Government of Nagaland.
