Four held for possession of banned drugs in Manipur

Imphal, July 11 (EMN): A combined team of two police stations including Kangpokpi police station recovered suspected banned tablets wrapped in five plastic packets weighing more than 4 kilograms from the possession of four persons at Motbung area in Kangpokpi district on Monday, police said.

The combined police team, based on information of suspicious movement of drug peddlers, conducted intensive frisking and checking along the National Highway 2(NH-2) at Motbung around 10 am.

 “The team stopped one Maruti Alto Car (WB06E-5881) at Motbung,” the police said. “During preliminary questioning, the driver and three occupants denied possession of any contraband items. However due to their suspicious manner the vehicle was followed and again stopped near Hengjang village along NH-2,” police said.

On confirming the presence of contraband drugs in the vehicle DSP (GSPM) and SDO Saitu along with two civil independent witnesses were called.

In their presence, the driver took out 5 bundles wrapped in plastic packets containing “suspected WY tablets” weighing approximately 4.568 kg , police added.

Four accused persons identified as Satminlun Tuboi (24) of Saikul Bazar,Hethem Sitlhou(39) of MBT village both under Kangpokpi district and Thangkholen Haokip (42) and Lhaineineng Haokip (41) both from Chikim veng Moreh, Tengnoupal district were apprehended in this connection.

An FIR has been taken up for further investigation, police said.
