Dimapur, Oct. 19 (EMN): The advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr Neikiesalie Kire, on Monday laid the foundation stone of the multi-utility hall of Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) at Chandmari ground in Kohima.

Speaking on the occasion, Kire said that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought about a different norm that requires having smaller gatherings on any occasion. He, therefore, called upon the people to avoid big crowds for one’s own safety, an update informed.

He stated that the people in the town area have become complacent and do not follow the guidelines or SOPs issued by the government to prevent the spread of Covid-19. He appealed all to ‘continue with what has been asked to do including wearing a mask and maintaining social distance’.

“Covid-19 is not likely to stop early,” he said, adding that everyone has to be ‘careful and spread awareness for our own safety’.

Kire also assured of all possible support towards GPPK and its community and would also take-up the matter with the government.

He also called upon the Gorkha community to work in cohesion with their leaders for a better future.

GPPK president Santu Thapa, who delivered the welcome address, expressed hope that Kire would extend support towards the successful completion of the multi-utility hall.
