Former Noklak DC pleads not guilty in alleged sexual misconduct case

Tuensang, March 27 (EMN): The pending case against former Noklak Deputy Commissioner, Reny Wilfred was fixed for consideration of charges on Friday, March 25 at Tuensang.

The accused was charged on allegations of sexual misconduct against two minor girls at Noklak after a formal complaint was filed on July 27, 2021 at Noklak police station.

According to sources, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act special court judge has framed the charges following the accused pleading not guilty of any misconduct. Further, the trial is said to be have been fixed to proceed on May 24, 2022.

Meanwhile, the Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam has questioned the negligence of the Public and Administrative Reform (P&AR) for failing to take any disciplinary action against the accused during the process of the trial.

 “The KMH has been demanding that actions be taken against the accused until the case is over. We stand for the rights of women and we demand that the respective authorities look into this case seriously and serve justice to law accordingly”, it underscored.

“The law is equal for every individual regardless of how high profile the accused may be, and inequality of any kind is not acceptable,” it added.

They also demanded that the alleged accused be kept under custody to ensure free and fair trial.
