Dimapur, June 8 (EMN): Former MLA of 47 Karong A/C, PS Henry Paotei from Purul village in Senapati district, Manipur, passed away on Tuesday. He was 60.
He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
Meanwhile, Manipur CM N Biren Singh mourned the death of the former legislator,
‘Henry was a committed leader, who served the people of the state in different capacities. He began his career as a student leader in the late 1970s. After briefly serving as a headmaster in a govt. school, he joined the Treasury and Accounts Administrative department in 1982. During his service, he served as the president of JAC, AMTUC and AMGEO Senapati branch from 1987 to 1990.
After resigning from govt. service in 1994, he launched his own newspaper — The Hills Time — and worked as an editor from 1997 to 2001. He continued working for downtrodden people till his last breath,’ read the condolence messsage.
‘In his demise, Manipur has lost a true and able leader, whose contributions would be remembered forever. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and may his soul rest in peace,’ it added.
