Diphu, Sep. 10 (EMN): The authority of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on Friday organised a distribution ceremony of pension cheques to 54 former Members of Autonomous Council (MAC) at conference hall of the new KAAC Secretariat.
The members, including former chairman, deputy chairman and chief executive member (CEM) will receive a monthly pension of INR 12,500 from KAAC.
“To give pension to ex-MACs, the resolution was adopted by KAAC on August 10, 2019 and Governor’s consent came on August 20, 2021. Each ex-MACs will be receiving a monthly pension amount of INR 12,500. The Money will be credited to their accounts,” CEM of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang said at the programme.
He added that a resolution has been passed for increment of monthly salaries of chairman, deputy chairman, CEM, EMs and MACs.
MACs will be getting a monthly salary of INR 60,000; Deputy Chairman and Executive Members (EMs) INR 65,000; Chairman INR 70,000; and CEM INR 80,000.
Former KAAC Chairmen like Roy Enghi, Daniel Teron and Dhaniram Tisso, and former EMs Bhupen Hasnu, Semson Suren and several others attended the function.
Receiving the pension cheque, Teron thanked the CEM for his initiative to provide pension to MACs in recognition of their public service.
