Former IGAR Major General Lakhera conferred with AVSM

KOHIMA — The former Inspector General of Assam Rifles-North (IGAR-N), Major General Vikas Lakhera, was conferred with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) by the president of India, Droupadi Murmu, during the Defence Investiture Ceremony (Phase-2) on the evening of July 19 held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.

On the occasion, the president conferred 94 distinguished service decorations to personnel of the armed forces and Indian coast guard.

Lakhera was among the 57 army officers who received the prestigious AVSM.

He assumed the charge as the 20th IGAR (N) on January 5, 2022, and was replaced by Major General Manish Kumar, at their headquarters in Kohima on March 15 earlier this year.
