Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): Responding to NPCC’s accusation terming the former Congress members as ‘opportunists, defectors and migratory birds,’ the latter reiterated that they have joined the NPF led by Neiphiu Rio by putting forth their principled position clear in recognising freedom of choice.
Referring to its November 1 press release, former Dimapur DCC general secretary (Admn), Hollohon Chishi stated that it had clearly mentioned that they have joined NPF led by Neiphiu Rio, President NPF (Rio) and Lok Sabha MP, and Chief Minister TR Zeliang unconditionally because of their active involvement in expediting the “Indo-Naga” peace process.
With regard to the claims made by NPCC to former Congress members as opportunists, defectors and migratory birds, the release stated that they have upheld ideologies and principles of Indian National Congress believing that the working system of the NPCC president will be as per its principles. But as claimed by former Congress members, lack of inner democracy which took a partisan political position stirred up disagreements and the unprecedented act and autocratic functioning of the NPCC President made them take the decision to resign from the party.
While reminding the NPCC that whatever decisions taken were all as per the laid down rules where copies of resolution with appended signatures were send to the AICC, it stated the allegation of covering their guilt and shameless actions does not arise. Rather, instead of letting facts be known, it accused NPCC of misleading the people of Nagaland because of its inability to produce records and thus targeting the former Congress members who has taken a bold decision to resign.
