Retired Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, Rajkumar Manisana passed away at a hospital here on Thursdaymorning. He was 86.
He died at Shija Hospital at 10:30 am. Rajkumar Manisana was admitted to the private hospital after he was injured in the head in a fall at his home on January 6. Rajkumar Manisana began his career as an advocate in 1958. He served as a Government advocate-cum-public prosecutor of Manipur from 1972 to 1974. Later, he was appointed advocate general of Manipur government in 1979.
He became a judge of the Gauhati High Court in 1984 and later became the Chief Justice of the same court in 1994. He was also the Chairman of the Assam Human Rights Commission from January 2, 2002 till he attained 70 years of age.
