Forest dept. organises nature conservation awareness for students

Dimapur, March 27 (EMN): Kiphire Wildlife Division under the department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change organised five awareness programmes for students at Nature Learning Centre of the Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP), Rangapahar.

An update from the division stated that students of Government Middle School Aoyimti, Government Middle School Darogajan, Government Middle School Purana Bazaar ‘A’, Government Middle School Sarbura at Ao Kashiram, and Government Town Middle School Dimapur attended the programme on different days.

In all the programmes, Watisungla Amer, NZP range forest officer, briefed the participants about the zoo and its beauty followed with an awareness programme by Kiphire Wildlife Division on the theme “Nature conservation”. It stated that wildlife quiz-cum-interactive awareness sessions were also conducted by Eco Warriors, a volunteer group of youth graduates under Kiphire Wildlife Division.

It added that students were allowed to experience interactive smart info screens at the Nature Learning Centre which showcases flora and fauna from across the state. The interactive session was led by Onenjungshi, NZP wildlife photographer.

Besides, participants were taken around the park by Disurai, forester I, to experience nature learning by visiting nature trail, enclosures, and butterfly park.

A total of 423 participants including school students, staff from the office of the chief wildlife warden, NZP staff, staff of Kiphire wildlife division, and Eco Warriors participated in the programmes.

It added that Suman WM Sivachar, deputy conservator of forest; Prabhat Kumar, NZP director; Rama Shankar Prasad, assistant conservator of forest; and members of CAN Youth also attended different programmes.
