Principal Correspondent KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 25 A woman foreign tourist and two other customers lodged in three different rooms of a hotel in Kohima town were robbed of their passport, wallet, cash and other belongings Tuesday night. Sources said the purse of a woman tourist from Finland containing her passport, foreign currency and her other permits were stolen from her room at Capital Hotel last night. However, after she made a hue and cry early this morning, her purse was recovered within sometime from among the flower pots by the hotel management. After the incident, the tourist reportedly left for Imphal. In another incident same night, two Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) delegates from Chandel after arrival were lodged in the same hotel to attend today’s NSF Federal Assembly. But, one of the delegate’s purse containing cash and some clothing were stolen by unknown miscreant. The entire incident occurred while the customers were asleep, sources said. The matter was reported to police who have taken the statements of the hotel management. Efforts to nab the culprits are on. Meanwhile, Angami Students’ Union (ASU) president Zakie Khate and his colleagues, who were present at the Hotel while police were investigating the case, have condemned such an act of stealing the belongings of visitors and customers. Khate has cautioned that if Capital Hotel management does not come clear on the matter, the hotel might have to shut down. “This kind of acts will destroy the Naga image which must be tackled with utmost seriousness,” he said.
