Imphal, Nov. 12 (EMN): Six members from the Naga Mothers Association (NMA) in Nagaland had a discussion with Meira Paibi, an all-women group in Manipur, in connection with their ‘concerns arising out of the Naga peace talks’ in Imphal on Tuesday.

‘We must say that this is a fruitful meeting. We addressed whatever concerns they have, and also the concern that we have’,  Abeiu Meru, president of NMA told reporters soon after the meeting.

Stating that the main agenda of the meeting was peace, Meru said they have known Meira Paibi for quite some time. The Times of India had even given a lifetime peace award shared by NMA and Meira Paibis of Manipur in 2013.

She said, “We have a peace committee with a slogan ‘Shed no more blood’. Wherever we go, we go with the slogan. As mothers, wherever we may be, we need peace.”

Advisor to NMA, Rosemary Dzuvichu said, “We’ve also discussed about the militarisation and the concern of the women both in Manipur and Nagaland and also the ongoing peace talks.”

“We hope the government of India will take the concerns of the people from both the states and ensure that there is peace in the region,” she said. “This will be the beginning of the many more dialogues to come.”
