For dirtying locality, fish and chicken vending to be banned in East Dimapur wards
DIMAPUR — The Purana Bazar Tribal Council, East, has resolved to strictly implement the order of administrator, East Dimapur, and decided to ban the sale of chicken and fish within the jurisdiction of East Dimapur, covering seven wards.
A press note from the council mentioned that it was decided during a meeting held on September 23.
The council said that the vendors selling fish and chicken are dirtying the locality, and therefore all those interested vendors may occupy the stalls that are available at Purana Bazaar daily market.
The meeting also decided to allow the sale of pork and beef strictly in butcher shops and not on the street. The meeting decided to implement it with effect from October 1 and evict all the street vendors if found carrying out businesses in the restricted areas.
The meeting also resolved not to allow the shopkeepers to place their goods on the footpath, calling it invading the free passage of commuters and a parking space for shoppers, and if anyone is found violating these directives, the council would seize the goods placed outside the shops.
The note said that it has also been observed that certain individuals have been selling fish by going door to door. The meeting decided to call for a blanket ban on all types of fish sales by going door to door and urged all the concerned individuals to come and do businesses at the daily market.
After deliberating on the issue of drainage systems in the seven wards of Purana Bazar, the council resolved to address the issue with the utmost importance, and a proposal has been forwarded to the administrator of East Dimapur Town Council.
The meeting decided to open the clogged drainage near H Apartments, Jorapukhuri Colony—Romesh Chandra Mech residence—ISBT Junction Petrol Pump—Hotel Alyvn—flour mill, citing the possibility of flooding in the area.
To avoid flooding in the near future, it appealed to the landowners of the area or land not to hinder their work because it is for the benefit of the citizens.
