Dimapur, Jan. 5 (EMN): A football tournament organised by the Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU), in collaboration with Khiamniungan Sports Council (KSC), got underway at Noklak town public ground on January 5 on the theme “Invigorating the talent.”

Inaugurating the tournament, vice president of Nagaland Football Association Colo Mero insisted on proper training from young age in order to become a good sportsman. He mentioned that initiatives should start from the grassroots on the importance of games and sports as well as organising sports activities in schools and villages in order to bring up good sportsmen from the district.

He also advised the players disciplined in all areas to excel in sports, a DIPR report stated on Tuesday.

KSC president, Elo Khiamniungan, also spoke during the occasion, while the welcome address was delivered by KSU games and sports secretary, Sheying.

It stated that the Noklak district branch of Indian Red Cross Society has set up a stall with the objective to create awareness on Covid-19 and also distributed face masks and soap to participating teams.
