Dimapur, Dec. 5 (EMN): Members of the Food Safety & Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) are conducting laboratory tests on various food items and ingredients at Kisama village, since Dec. 1. Updates from the DIPR on Wednesday stated that the testing was being undertaken in collaboration with the Food Safety authorities of Nagaland.
The DIPR did not offer details whether the testing was a regular enforcement activity at the Hornbill Festival, where food and catering is one of the chief features, or a promotional programme.
Food Analyst I Ayangba has been “demonstrating the experiment” on various ‘items and ingredients’ by using chemicals like hydrochloric acid, petroleum ether and iodine. The DIPR reported the analyst as having said that, ‘It is very important for the consumers to know whether the items we use in our kitchen are pure or adulterated.’
“So far the test on various items such as tea leaves, milk powder, honey, turmeric, chilli powder, dal is going on for the public viewing as well as to create awareness about the importance and priority of our daily food items,” the DIPR updates added.
