Dimapur, April 23: A food chain, Kathi Junction, has made its way to Dimapur, the commercial hub of Nagaland, on Monday. It all started as a street food enterprise at Kolkata in the ‘30s but spread across the country.
Today, Kathi Junction has served dishes to “one million people,” asserts Oka V Chisho, proprietor of the culinary enterprise.
Kathi Junction was inaugurated in Dimapur on April 23 at Midland. The director of Junior High, Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School Ani Yepthomi was the chief guest of the event.
Having set up two outlets in Assam, Dimapur’s Kathi Junction is the third in the Northeast region. The whole idea is to provide food that is “reasonable and affordable” to all, Chisho said. The enterprise was awarded the best franchise in India in March 2018.
Regardless of profession Kathi Junction wants to make sure people come in their store, have a ‘decent time’ and ‘enjoy the food.’ Therefore, the ‘menu starts from INR 40,’ he said.
All good hopes aside, Chisho admitted that electricity was the main challenge if they are to run the business successfully. He said that the business has had to spend a huge amount of money on a daily basis to generate electricity in the outlet.
Nonetheless he said that the proprietorship is trying to spread the brand across the region and perhaps the globe in the future.
