Foo Fighters was not allowed to play at Emmys: Dave Grohl

Rock band Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has claimed the group’s scheduled performance at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards was cancelled by TV channel Fox, which aired the ceremony.
The set was nixed because the channel “refused to allow the band to play a full song from its Emmy-winning docuseries ‘Sonic Highways,” according to a statement of Foo Fighters, reported the Rolling Stone.
“Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways”, directed by Grohl and written by Mark Monroe, was made concurrently with the band’s eighth album, “Sonic Highways”.
Each of the eight episodes of the series was presented as an exploration of the musical history of a different American city through a series of interviews by Grohl.“The band and the Academy were extremely happy and excited to have Foo Fighters play as the first ever rock band on the Emmys.
Fox then refused to allow the band to play a full song from the Emmy-winning Sonic Highways. That is why the band decided not to perform,” the band stated.
Before the statement was released, Grohl, 46, was asked why he did not attend the Emmys although his group’s HBO docuseries “Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways” won two Creative Arts Emmys.
“We were supposed to play on the Emmys, and we were gonna play on the Emmys, and then they kicked us off,” he replied.
Grohl, however, refused to give more details about the cancelled performance. “I can’t tell you. Do your research, but they did,” he said.
Representatives for the Emmys and FOX were not immediately available for comment.
