Dimapur, March 10 (EMN): The Forum for Naga Reconciliation on March 9 conducted a daylong interaction with Dimapur-based working professionals to take “the ‘Walking the Naga Day’ process forward.”
A statement from the forum on Sunday informed that around 45 professionals comprising theologians, lawyers, physician, entrepreneurs, journalists, researchers, social workers, and educators participated in the interaction.
Dr. Kethoser Kevichusa presented a “critical and constructive observation” of the Naga Reconciliation process, it stated. “He said that Nagas are at a stage of ‘conflict fatique,’ which had opened space for reconciliation. He also said that, as a rule of thumb, the reconciliation process takes at least as long as the period of conflict itself, and so reconciliation in the Naga context may be expected to be a long-drawn process.”
Aheli Moitra, a journalist, while pointing on that the first phase of the FNR process was to end factional violence—observed that the FNR has through the Naga Day brought back the process to the Naga people, who must now find a way to take the reconciliation process forward.
During the interaction, the limitations and positive aspects of the FNR were discussed and practical suggestions offered for further discussions, it stated. The convenor of FNR, Rev. Dr. Wati Aier and members Dr. Visier Sanyu and Dr. Aküm Longchari reflected on their own experiences by sharing the context, difficulties, challenges and missed opportunities in the reconciliation process, it informed.
