Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FNG) said the act to immerse the ashes of a former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the river of Nagaland is an insult to the Naga people.
Stating that there is no reason for any nation to raise any objection over another Nation hounoring the death of its leader, however, it stated that the immersion of Vajpayee’ ashes in the river of Nagaland is a ‘despicable act of arrogance on the part of India and is a serious insult to the Naga people and the Naga nation.’
A press statement issued by the ‘Capt. (retd.)’ Yirei Lungleng, Rali Wali Kilonser, stated that “Late Atal Shari Vajpayee was not a person to be honored by the Naga people for willful imposition of his birth date of 25th December on Christmas Day as so-called 'Good Governance Day.” It said this act was not only an insult to the Naga people, but the whole of Christendom.
Pointing out the imposition of the Digital India Day on Good Friday, the Yoga Day on Father's Day and the Polio Day on Sunday, the FNG alleged that these are all ‘abusive affronts’ to Christianity.
Meanwhile, the FNG conveyed its appreciation to all councils, organizations, associations, churches and fellow Naga Christians “who opposed the anti-Christian activities of the enemy.”
It further appealed to all fellow Nagas not to take part in such moral issue in future as a Christian nation. “If there is no national freedom, there can be no religious freedom,” it added.
