Chozuba, March 8 (EMN): Commemorating International Women's Day, a flower show competition was held at Chozuba town in Phek district organised by the district administration, district level centre for women (DLCW)- Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao ( BBBP) and Sakhi- One stop centre (OSC), Phek.
The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Chozuba, Theodore Yanthan , in his keynote address, urged the citizens to support women's rights and support women empowerment, stated a press release.
He highlighted the potential of women, and also added that women nowadays are more sincere and dedicated than men in every field. He pointed out the significance of women in creating an impact in society.
Meanwhile principal of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Chozuba town, Sedukholu Thisa said International Women's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world while stating that the it is an occasion when women are recognised for their achievements.
“The past years have not only seen the devastating effects of a global pandemic, but also a critical set back in women's progress in terms of economic and workplace empowerment”, said Thisa.
She however pointed that the situation is exactly where women need to nurture themselves and encouraged to buckle up and take on the next normal life and transform it into something extraordinary.
Meanwhile, centre administrator of OSC, Phek highlighted the various schemes under OSC while ‘Role of District Level for Women (DLCW) - Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) was shared by District Coordinator MSK, Phek,Veposelu Naroh, Women Welfare Officer (WWO) Vileno Kapu chaired the programme.
After the programme, 50 girls participated in the flower show competition. U nder the category of orchids- Lotsiino from Chozuba village won the first prize while Zukhiivelu Shijo from Chozuba town and Akulu from Khulazu Basa won the second and third position respectively.
In the succulents category, Mutukhrulu Nyekha from Chozuba won the first position while Vevotolu and Zizilu, both from Yoruba, won second and third positions respectively.
