Floral artistry workshop held at Nagaland University Medziphema campus

DIMAPUR — A floral artistry workshop was organised by farmer's cell, School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University, Medziphema campus, in collaboration with the district administration, Medziphema, at the multi-purpose hall, SAS, Medziphema, on October 31.


ADC Medziphema P James Swu addressed the workshop, expressing happiness that the floral artistry workshop was a first-of-its-kind in Medziphema, an update stated.


The ADC highlighted the key aspects and benefits of the workshop, encouraging participants to engage fully and apply the learned skills in life.


Swu hoped that the workshop would be a learning experience, an opportunity to discover a new hobby, and enhance creativity. He also emphasised the therapeutic and stress-relieving benefits of working with flowers, as well as their role in boosting mental well-being, aesthetic appreciation, creativity, and entrepreneurship.


In his speech, Prof. Dipak Sinha, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Medziphema Campus, NU, encouraged the participants to actively attend the floral artistry workshop with dedication, and said that the workshop will enhance creativity to learn and develop new skills.

Prof. Sinha also underscored the importance of flowers in life and the need to develop an entrepreneurial mind.


Dr. Rokolhuu Keditsu, Associate Professor in the Department of Horticulture at SAS, NU, and Dr. Nini R. Kuotsu, Assistant Professor in the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development, along with Abdul Rahman from the Department of Horticulture at SAS, NU, served as resource persons for the workshop. They covered essential topics such as symmetrical equilateral flower arrangement, scalene shape, resin floral art, centrepiece arrangement, Ikebana flower arrangement, and contemporary flower arrangement.


There was demonstration of various flower arrangement styles and techniques too.


Earlier, the inaugural programme was chaired by Dr. Mary N. Odyuo, Associate Professor, while the invocation was proposed by Dr. Sentimenla Jamir, Assistant Professor and vote of thanks by Dr. Sabbithi Pavan, Assistant Professor.


Altogether 84 participants, both offline and online, attended the floral artistry workshop.
