Flamingos CC lift 6th Silver Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament

Flamingos Cricket Club from Dimapur today emerged as the new champions of the Silver Cup T20 Cricket Tournament organized by Youth Department of Nepali Baptist Church Kohima under the theme “Peace and unity through Cricket” at Local Ground (Khouciezhie) here.
Playing a totally lopsided final match of the 6th edition of the tourney, Flamingos CC Dimapur humiliated Kohima Hornbills by a huge 98 runs.Opting to bat first having won the toss, Flamingos set a target of 165 runs losing 8 wickets in complete 20 overs. Jalal contributed highest 39 runs in 26 balls while Hokaito Zhimomi scored 37 runs in 32 balls. Kohima Hornbills bowler Pranjal claimed two rival wickets.
Pursuing for the target, Kohima Hornbills were bundled out in 18.1 overs at the score of 65 runs with Paul contributing highest 21 runs. Flamingos bowler Vicky downed four rivals wickets while Ritupan and Badal claimed two each wickets. Vicky Hanse was adjudged the man of the final match.
The champion team – Flamingos Cricket Club received cash award of Rs. 70,000 with running trophy, citation & gold medals while runners-up Kohima Hornbills pocketed Rs. 25,000 with running trophy, citation and silver medals.
Gracing the valedictory function as the chief guest, State Coordinator, ATI (DMC) Kohima, Dr Hovithal N. Sothu exhorted the players to pursue towards professionalization and specialization in their field with discipline and dedication. He said that games and sports have become a lucrative avenue and in order to achieve greater heights one has to be dedicated and professional. He also encouraged the youngsters to do away with evils of the society and to lead a healthy and good life.
Annie Konthoujam compered by valedictory function where Convener Organising Committee John Thakuri tendered the vote of thanks and concluded with NBCK Youth Director, Moon Thabah saying the benediction.
