First phase of free rice distribution launched in Mon

The first phase of free rice distribution for the month of April and May under PMGKAY scheme launched in Mon town on April 27.

Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K, along with the assistant director and other personnel of the department of Food and Civil Supplies and Manager, Food Corporation of India, Mon launched the first phase of free rice distribution for the month of April and May under Pradhan Mantra Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) Scheme in Mon town on April 27.

This was informed by DPRO Mon through a press release on Tuesday. ‘Under the PMGKAY scheme, 5 kg of rice per month shall be distributed free of cost to every member of a PHH and AAY ration card households for April, May and June,’ read the update.

Advance distribution of rice (regular) for the month of May and June for PHH and AAY beneficiaries has been completed and free rice under PMGKAY for June will be distributed in the second phase in May, the update added.

Criminal proceedings will be initiated against any individual/organisation/village or ward council/fair price shop found selling the free rice. All FPS are to mandatorily use the e-POS device during issue of rice as directed by the department. People can contact phone No. 8974406511 for any complaint, stated the press release.
