First Inter-School Cricket Boys Under-16 Tournament kicks off in Kiphire

DIMAPUR — The first ever Inter-School Cricket Boys Under-16 Tournament organised by Kiphire District Cricket Association under the aegis of Nagaland Cricket Association kicked off at Public Ground Kiphire on Monday.

In the first match of the tournament, Agape Hr. Secondary School defeated Holy Cross High School by 37 runs, informed an update received here on Monday.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Agape Hr. Secondary School put up 80 runs (all out) in 11 overs. Chasing the target, Holy Cross High School managed to score only 43 runs.

In the second match of the day, Loyola Hr. Secondary School defeated Trinity High School by six wickets, successfully chasing down 77 runs-target in just 9.2 overs.

Speaking at the event, special guest of the inaugural programme, Sulanthung Khenchung, SDO Civil Kiphire HQ, lauded the association for its effort in honing the young talents by organising such an event.

Cricket is a popular sports especially in India, he said, while urging the participating schools to not only their best to win the game but also learn from the tournament.
