First inter-collegiate online chess tourney on July 25

Kohima July 13, (EMN): The chess association of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama will be organising the first Inter-collegiate online chess tournament on July 25.

Announcing this, the association informed that the platform will be through Lichess App, an open-source Internet Chess server with 3+0s (Blitz) time format from 7 am to 8:30 pm and the time duration for a match is 90 minutes.

Dozhohu Rhakho, president, chess association St. Joseph’s College (A) Jakhama stated that the chess association of the college has come up with a new strategy to organise online chess tournament for all the college students during the state-wide lockdown due to Covid-19 outbreak.

It informed that Mughaho Awomi will be the chief arbiter of the tournament and the total prize money for the tournament is worth INR 3500 and registration fee is INR 50.

The tournament aims to highlight the solidarity and resilience of mankind and also to promote the spirit of sportsmanship and discipline which must be worked upon and carried forward to bring pride to Nagaland.
