Dimapur, Dec. 13 (EMN): The first edition of “The Farmers’ Dream,” a newsletter of ATMA Zunheboto was released by the special guests during the ATMA management committee meeting on Dec. 7.
The newsletter highlights variou activities undertaken by ATMA Zunheboto including the celebration of Zunheboto town platinum jubilee cum Ahuna festival.
The meeting held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaland University, Lumami campus was graced by vice-chancellor in-charge, Prof. A K Singh as special guest.
Vice chancellor in his speech stressed on the growth of sustainable agriculture through organic farming. He remarked that India will become a backbone of international policy only when Indian agricultural production will be able to feed every citizen of India and Northeastern states in particular as it has the highest potential.
He proposed a planning from bottom to top approach where the farmer’s indigenous technical knowledge should synergize with the modern technology. He further advised ATMA to transfer their knowledge to the farmers and not holding within themselves.
NU registrar in-charge, Prof. NS Jamir applauded the ATMA, KVK and ICAR for their intervention in enhancing agriculture in the state. He also challenged them to enhance the marketing policy by exporting more and importing less.
PD ATMA Zunheboto, K Khekiho Shohe in his keynote address proposed better co-ordination between all Agri & Allied departments and share knowledge about each other’s programs/schemes so as to work in convergence through the ATMA platform.
Power point presentations were presented by all Agri & Allied department and eight blocks of ATMA Zunheboto.
