First CROSSWORD store in NE opens at Kohima

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 1

Good news for all those in Kohima who swear and live by the ‘books’, preserving the reading culture with their love for literature, Crossword, India’s leading chain of bookstores today opened its 96th store in the state capital, the first in the North East. Inaugurating the mega bookstore here at Porter Lane, Kohima on Saturday, Chief Secretary Toshi Aier said this store will be a home for all booklovers. While acknowledging that very few Naga boys and girls have the inclination to books today, he expressed hope that Crossword Kohima will inspire and reinvigorate the reading culture among the youth. He also urged the partner franchisee to strive to provide the facility that the youngsters aspire for.
Crossword CEO in his message on the launch said, “It is a new step for Crossword and a proud moment to open such a store in the city and we really hope the customers enjoy this kind of a Crossword reading experience. We hope we can open more such stores in the future. We thank our business partner for taking Crossword to newer heights in this part of the country.”
The plush new age bookstore has a widespread array of books ranging from different genres like history, politics, religion to hobbies etc., including fiction and non-fiction, and also, the store includes an exclusive section dedicated to books authored by Naga writers.
The franchisee says Crossword Kohima is conceived with the vision to contribute something meaningful and worthwhile towards the Naga society by way of developing and promoting the reading habits, at the same time it hopes to create a platform for local writers, authors and poets to showcase their published works through sale and display.
The inaugural function was attended by a host of intellectuals including state government officials and employees, Naga writers and poets, journalists, booklovers, and well wishers.
