Dimapur, Dec. 9 (EMN): Department of Tourism, in collaboration with art curator, Anungla Zoe Longkumer, opened the first ever Art Gallery with an art exhibition at the Hornbill Festival 2022 on the theme “A way of being.”

The exhibition, according to Anungla, is about expressing the changes through art that occurred through the passage and influence of time throughout Nagaland. She added that the exhibition featured 17 self-taught artists of Nagaland, stated a DIPR report.

Anungla chose the theme as she realised a sort of story being narrated through the several artworks she collected from different artists. Anungla added that the artworks displayed represented realism, abstract, emotive perspective and balance of culture and life.

When asked about the future of art in Nagaland, Anungla mentioned that although there are many talented artists, the need of the hour is patronage for them.

It stated that print and original works of the artists with certificate of authenticity are put up for sale at the Art Gallery. The art works of Akangsenep Jamir, Arieno Kera, Kutoli N, Lanu Pongen, Limatola Longkumer, Lipokmanen, Meren Imchen, Moaso Aier, Nadia Jamir, Sekrese Mejura, Sinlo Kemp, Sirawon Tulisen Kathing, Temjen Art, Tetsong Jamir, Toni Sumi, Vineizotuo Tase and Vithuse Temi are on display.
