DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner of Phek, Kumar Ramnikant, formally launched the ‘First 1000 Days’ of life at Dr. Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall of the District Hospital Phek on May 31.
The programme was launched in the presence of the chief medical officer (CMO) of Phek, Dr. Khriezotuo Paphino; medical superintendent, Dr. Avile; and district programme officers and others, stated an update from CMO office.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The ‘First 1000 days’ refers to a period beginning from conception till a child reaches its second birthday. It stated that each day of the journey is special and influences the way the child develops, grows and learns-not just now but for the entire life. It mentioned that the period is the most crucial for the development of their body, brain, metabolism and immune system. The object of “Journey of First 1000 Days” is to provide parents and healthcare providers with the most recent and up-to-date knowledge regarding the most important factors that could impact a child’s cognitive development during the first thousand days of a child’s life.
