Fire renders 5 families homeless in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — A fire broke out in the wee hours of Sunday at Lane-7 A, Kevijau colony, Dimapur.

An officer at the central fire station informed that they had received a distress call at around 4:39 am after which two fire-tenders each from central fire station and west fire station were dispatched to the scene.

It took the fire-fighters around one hour to douse the fire completely. The team was led by Duty Commander Moameren Noklang from central fire station

According to the officer, timely intervention prevented the fire from spreading to the surrounding areas. In the incident, five thatch houses were completely reduced to ashes, affecting five households.

While there was no loss of life, none of the families could salvage their belongings. The officer informed that the cause of fire is suspected to be from an electrical short circuit.
