Fire in Burma Camp ravages godown, destroys property

Dimapur, Jan. 25 (EMN): A massive fire broke out near Rongmei Customary Court at Burma Camp in Dimapur at around 11:45 am on Saturday, January 25, damaging property worth lakhs of rupees.

A fire department official told Easter Mirror that fire broke out at a godown where plastic and aluminium fibre were stored. The fire that was reportedly caused by electrical short circuit also affected two shops and few residential buildings nearby.

According to the survey done by the fire department, property worth around INR 15-20 lakh was destroyed in the inferno. However, no human casualties were reported.

The central fire department got a call about the incident at around 11:58 am on Saturday, the official informed, adding that west fire station and central fire station department were able to extinguish the fire within one hour and 20 minutes.
