Fire destroys two houses in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, May 28 (EMN): Two houses were completely destroyed and one partially damaged in a devastating fire which broke out at Anentzubo Sector in Mokokchung village on Friday Morning. However, no loss of life was reported.

An official from Nagaland Fire and Emergency Services informed that the fire started from a storeroom in one of the houses suspected to be caused by a short circuit at around 4:30 am, some 600 meters away from the Fire Station Mokokchung.

Officials informed that three fire tenders were pressed into action to bring the fire under control. It was also informed that the residents have assisted the fire personnel to bring the fire under control.

“It took us nearly two hours to bring the fire under control before it could spread to nearby government quarters. Two houses were razed down by the fire,” an official said.

Officials also added that all the properties in both the houses were completely destroyed. Officials have estimated that properties worth INR 70 lakh were destroyed in the fire.
