Fire destroys properties in Kohima

AN estimated property worth Rs. 50 lakh, including five vehicles were damaged in a devastating fire that broke inside a workshop alongside the Nagaland Civil Secretariat road Kohima Wednesday.
Though the actual cause of the fire could not be ascertained but the mechanics suspect it might have broke out due to buds of cigarette at around 1:25 pm, sources in the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said.The workshop Medo Motors belongs to Ape Chakhesang.
Two Bolero, one belonging to Joint Director of Agriculture Department, two Scorpio (one government) and another Mahendra Pick Up was destroyed in the fire while mechanical properties worth Rs. 5 lakh was also razed to ashes, sources said, adding that no human casualty has been reported in the incident.
Meanwhile, eye-witnesses said that timely arrival of four fire trucks with fire fighters along with the neighbours helped in preventing the spread of inferno to nearby houses and shops.
Reaching around 1:40 pm, fire fighters took about half-an-hour to completely douse it, sources added.
