Fire destroys houses in Tuli

Dimapur, April 27 (EMN): Two houses were reported destroyed by fire at Teyong ward in Tzudikong town under Tuli sub-division in Mokokchung district while huge plantation areas across the state were also damaged in forest fire during the past 24 hours.

An update from the Fire and Emergency Service informed that two houses in Tzudikong town under Tuli sub-division were destroyed in a devastating fire which broke out on April 27 at around 9 am.

It stated that three fire tenders along with sufficient personnel and equipment from Fire Station in Tuli were pressed into service to quell the fire. It added that properties worth INR 2.84 lakh were destroyed in the fire which reportedly started from an electric short circuit.

It added that the timely intervention of the fire personnel could prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding areas.

Report also stated that fire personnel from Tuli also managed to bring a forest fire under control which broke out on April 26 at 10th Mile near Railway Station.

In a related incident, fire personnel managed to douse a forest fire which broke out at Bhandari village in Wokha district on April 26 at around 10:45 pm.

While the cause of fire could not be ascertained, it stated that a huge area of plantation and crops worth INR 3 lakh was destroyed in the inferno.

Two incidents of jungle fire were also reported in Mokokchung district between 8:30 pm and 11 pm on April 26 at Sewak gate. It added that the timely response from the personnel could bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to adjoining areas.

Another incident of jungle fire was also reported at Kohima below NIELIT on April 26 at around 4:38 pm. It stated that on receipt of the information, fire personnel from Kohima Fire Station (North) were pressed into service and managed to bring the fire under control.
