Dimapur, Sep. 10 (EMN): A massive fire broke out in Padampukhuri Lane-1, Dimapur, on Thursday morning, destroying 10 houses and properties worth lakhs of rupees.
An official from Central Fire Station informed Eastern Mirror that a fire broke out in Padampukhuri Lane-1 at around 11:10 am on Thursday burning down 10 "kutcha" houses. The inferno also ignited two LPG cylinders, resulting in minor explosions.
The fire fighters could not retrieve any valuable household items from the houses, the officials stated.
The official informed that the fire personnel were able to douse off the fire at around 12: 10 pm and that three fire tenders -- two from the central fire station and one from west fire station -- were pressed into action to control the fire.
The loss of property caused by the fire is estimated at around INR 5 to 6 lakh. It informed that the fire personnel's timely intervention saved around 40 to 50 houses in close proximity to the fire incident site.
There was no casualties at the time of filing this report.
According to the official, the cause of the fire was due to a short circuit.
