Fire at Padampukhuri guts 10 houses

Dimapur, Sept 10 (EMN): A fire that broke out on September 10, Thursday morning, at Padampukhuri, lane-1, in Dimapur destroyed 10 houses.

A fire station official informed Eastern Mirror that a fire broke out at about 11:10 am during which 10 ‘Kutcha’ houses were burned down. The blaze also ignited two LPG cylinders resulting in two minor explosions. Fire fighters could not retrieve any household items from the houses, it was informed.

The official informed that the personnel were able to douse off the fire at about 12:10 pm and that three fire tenders were used in the work.

According to station officials, the cause of the fire was due to a short circuit. No casualty was reported at the time this report was being filed.

The estimated loss of property was reported to be in the region of INR 5 to 6 lakh. It was informed that the personnel were able to save about 40 to 50 houses in close proximity to the site of the fire due to their timely intervention.
